The Spit Public Realm Guidelines available for comment
Momentum is building on the delivery of The Spit Master Plan as the Queensland Government works to ensure this Gold Coast jewel is transformed into an iconic public space attracting visitors from across the country and the world.
The public realm guidelines, released today, will underpin revitalisation projects and commercial developments across The Spit.
It sets out design characteristics and will be used to inform the materials and finishes used in new public infrastructure development across The Spit.
With projects resulting from the master plan having the potential to transform the area and generate up to 1800 jobs, having guidelines that give developers and project managers a framework to work within will give the area a cohesive look and feel, with a high standard of finish.
Good urban design requires good guidance and The Spit Master Plan with the new public realm guidelines will establish a comprehensive framework for the long-term revitalisation of this timeless Gold Coast landscape.
GCWA CEO Hal Morris said we’re looking forward to sharing these guidelines with the community and hearing their feedback.
“The community made a big contribution to the master planning process and we’ll continue to consult them as implementation rolls out to ensure it reflects what people told us they want to see happen at The Spit,” Mr Morris said.
The guidelines will be available online from 27 March to 17 April for public feedback.
