New Jetty and Pontoon for the Northern End of The Spit
People travelling to the top of the Spit will soon have a much needed on-water transport access to Doug Jennings Park, Moondarewa Spit, and the Seaway Promenade.
Installation of a jetty and pontoon facility at Marine Stadium at the northern end of The Spit, Main Beach, will soon begin after the construction contract was awarded.
The pontoon will allow for temporary berthing of recreational and commercial vessels, including emergency services. The facility will also host a ferry stop, initially operating only during events, and eventually providing a regular service.
Construction is due to begin in mid-2022 with a contract awarded by GCWA to a local company, Alder Constructions.
The GCWA, in partnership with the Palaszczuk Government, will continue to deliver improvements to the area in line with The Spit Master Plan vision as a community asset for future generations.
