Trust Land

Gold Coast Waterways Authority (GCWA) is the trustee of Doug Jennings Park, Wave Break Island and a land parcel at the southern tip of South Stradbroke Island (the trust land).  A map that depicts the trust land can be found in Operational Policy for Trust Land.

You may apply to use areas of Doug Jennings Park or Moondarewa Spit for activities, such as commercial or private events. For some activities, you may be required to make an application for a trustee permit with payment of fees, rent and a security bond, as necessary.

Our Operational Policy – Trust Land explains how Doug Jennings Park and Moondarewa Spit may be used, the different kinds of activities for which we may grant a trustee permit, the process for making an application for a trustee permit, and all relevant information about the fees, rent and bonds for security.

PLEASE NOTE: GCWA MAY REQUIRE 30 BUSINESS DAYS TO ASSESS AND PROCESS TRUSTEE PERMIT APPLICATIONS FOR LOW AND MEDIUM LEVEL ACTIVITIES, AND UP TO 90 BUSINESS DAYS FOR HIGH LEVEL ACTIVITIES.

If you’re planning to include a fireworks display in your event, please note that you must comply with all requirements for a local fire ban imposed for the Gold Coast local government area by the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service, in accordance with the Fire and Emergency Services Act 1990.

We require all applications for trustee permits for the use of Doug Jennings Park or Moondarewa Spit to be submitted via email at mail@gcwa.qld.gov.au or sent via post to PO Box 107, Southport Qld 4215.
