There are two new recreational destinations to enjoy at The Spit following the completion of projects under the implementation of The Spit Master Plan.
The Spit Master Plan projects – a shared pathway between Sea World and Doug Jennings Park and upgrades to the Moondarewa Spit foreshore are open for community use.
They’re part of the first phase of works to transform The Spit into one of the Gold Coast’s premium destinations for locals and visitors.
The Moondarewa Spit improvements include picnic shelters, a new amenities block and seating at the southern end where people can soak up the beautiful views, especially at sunset.
The shared cycling and pedestrian pathway from Sea World to Doug Jennings Park improves safety and access for people looking for alternatives to driving to the Spit.
A third project, the Seaway Promenade, is nearing completion and will open in the next few weeks.
The Queensland Government invested $6.84 million in the three projects delivered by the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning and the Gold Coast Waterways Authority (GCWA).
