Major Upgrade Complete at Doug Jennings Park

The revitalisation of Doug Jennings Park is now complete, transforming one of the Gold Coast’s most iconic parklands into a vibrant, accessible destination for the community to enjoy.

Proudly funded through the Queensland Government’s Spit Works Program and delivered by the Gold Coast Waterways Authority (GCWA), the $5.75 million project was completed on time and on budget, marking another milestone in the ongoing transformation of The Spit.

Designed by Tract Consultants and constructed by Regal Innovations, the upgrade delivers new and improved public spaces designed to enhance recreation, access and connection to the water. Key features include the creation of Seaway Green — a scenic open space with sweeping views of the Seaway and Broadwater — new pedestrian and cycle paths, enhanced landscaping, upgraded seating areas, and new picnic shelters for families and community gatherings.

The revitalisation reflects community feedback and the principles of The Spit Master Plan — protecting open space, improving access, and creating places that celebrate coastal living.

Doug Jennings Park and the new Seaway Green now offer locals and visitors a stunning new green space to connect with nature and enjoy the outdoors.

This upgrade builds on other successful Spit Works Program projects including Muriel Henchman Park, the Marine Stadium Jetty and Pontoon, and the Seaway Promenade — together shaping The Spit into a world-class destination that balances recreation, conservation and community access.
