New riverfront destination in Surfers is open
A new destination in Surfers Paradise is now open to visitors. The $1.4 million Surfers Riverside Foreshore is located in Appel Park at 10 Ferny Avenue, Surfers Paradise.
GCWA Chief Executive Officer, Mr Hal Morris, said this is the second stage in our delivery on the Surfers Riverside Master Plan. It follows on from the construction of the $850,000 dollar commercial pontoon in the Park in 2015.
“We are excited about this great new destination. It will be a place that delivers on our strategic commitment to improving access to our waterways by ”connecting’ the heart of surfers with a place people can enjoy being beside the water fishing, picnicking or just relaxing and appreciating the Nerang River.
It offers a reinvigorated and modern facelift to this much enjoyed riverside park and tidies the foreshore area where the old Daikio wharf once stood. This, in turn, will stimulate local businesses and encourage economic development in the area.
