Accessible Promenade opens at The Spit
A new accessible walkway stretching for almost 700 metres has opened along the south wall of the Gold Coast Seaway at The Spit.
The opening of the Seaway Promenade marks another milestone in the implementation of the Spit Master Plan. The Seaway Promenade offers unobstructed views south along the city’s coastline, north to the scenic beaches of South Stradbroke Island and along the Seaway to the hinterland, enhancing a much-loved destination for locals and visitors to continue enjoying at The Spit. It also features shaded seating areas, landscaping and a new set of Seaway emergency access stairs. The Queensland Government has invested $6.84 million in the Seaway Promenade, the Moondarewa Spit foreshore improvements and a shared pathway between Sea World and Doug Jennings Park as part of the implementation of the Master Plan. The next phase of implementation includes improvements to Muriel Henchman Park and new facilities at the top of Marine Stadium. |
