Background Information

While the Gold Coast Waterways Strategy 2021-2030 sets out the future strategic direction for management of our waterways, it is the annual Waterways Management Program and Spit Works Program (Community Infrastructure) that outline how this can be achieved through operational projects and capital investment.

The draft Waterways Management Program 2025-2029 has been developed through a detailed business planning process, to produce a considered and strategic program aligned to GCWA focus areas: access, connections, and destinations.

The Spit Works Program 2025- 2029 has been developed through a process of assessing and prioritising each project against a set of criteria, including community benefit and support.

We recognise the implementation of projects and initiatives in both programs can only be successful through continued engagement with the community, industry, and partner agencies.
