Trust Land

The Gold Coast Waterways Authority (GCWA) is the trustee of Doug Jennings Park, Wave Break Island, and a land parcel at the southern tip of South Stradbroke Island (the trust land). You can find a map of the trust land here Schedule 2 – Map of Trust Land.

As trust land, Doug Jennings Park (which includes Moondarewa Spit) has been specifically set aside for use by the general public as community parkland and recreation.

Looking at holding an event?

You may apply to use areas of Doug Jennings Park and Moondarewa Spit for activities, such as commercial events and private gatherings. Generally, these types of activities will require a trustee permit with payment of an application fee, rent, and a security bond. Please refer to the Application for a Trustee Permit form on the right hand side of this page, where you can also find a list of events proposed for the area this year.

PLEASE NOTE: GCWA MAY REQUIRE 20 BUSINESS DAYS TO ASSESS AND PROCESS A TRUSTEE PERMIT APPLICATION FOR LOW AND MEDIUM IMPACT ACTIVITIES, AND UP TO 60 BUSINESS DAYS FOR HIGH IMPACT ACTIVITIES.

If you‘re planning to include a fireworks display in your event, you must comply with all requirements for a local fire ban if such a ban has been imposed for the Gold Coast by the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service, in accordance with the Fire and Emergency Services Act 1990.
