Upgraded Paradise Point Boat Ramp now open

Boaties can once again enjoy easier and safer access to the Broadwater, with the upgraded Paradise Point Boat Ramp now open following a $1.65 million renewal project delivered by the Gold Coast Waterways Authority.

The popular facility has undergone a complete upgrade, replacing ageing infrastructure with a new three-lane boat ramp and centrally located floating walkway designed to make launching and retrieving vessels safer, easier and more efficient.

Paradise Point is one of the busiest public boat ramps on the Gold Coast. A recent survey recorded 357 vessel launch and retrieval movements across a single weekend, highlighting the importance of the facility to the local boating community.

The previous boat ramp had served the community for more than 23 years before reaching the end of its service life due to age, heavy use and the harsh marine environment.

Construction began in April 2026 and was completed in July 2026. Works were carefully staged to minimise disruption, with at least one lane remaining open for most of the construction period so the community could continue accessing the waterways.

Queensland Premier and Member for Broadwater David Crisafulli said the upgrade would ensure one of the Gold Coast’s busiest boat ramps continued to meet the needs of the community.

“Paradise Point is one of the busiest boat ramps on the Gold Coast and this upgrade has given it a new lease on life.

“From fishing and boating to tourism and recreation, our waterways are central to what makes the Gold Coast such a great place to live and visit.

“We’re investing in infrastructure of all sizes, from the local facilities people use every day to the major assets that keep the Gold Coast’s waterways operating.”

The Queensland Government has also committed $2.5 million towards the continued operation of the Gold Coast Sand Bypass System, which plays a critical role in maintaining navigable waterways and safe access between the Broadwater and the ocean.

Gold Coast Waterways Authority Chief Executive Officer Chris Derksema said the renewed facility would continue to serve the growing boating community for years to come.

“The previous facility had reached the point where renewal was required after more than 23 years of continuous use.

“With more than 350 vessel launch and retrieval movements recorded across a single weekend, we know just how heavily this facility is used.

“This upgrade delivers a modern, fit-for-purpose facility that improves safety and accessibility while ensuring the ramp can continue to meet community demand as more people enjoy the Gold Coast waterways.”

Whether you’re heading out for a day of fishing, boating or exploring the Broadwater, the upgraded Paradise Point Boat Ramp is ready to welcome you back.
