New module for Alberton pontoon

A popular Alberton marine facility on the Logan River has been repaired after the pontoon module was structurally damaged during flooding in 2022.

The Alberton pontoon module at August Burow Park was entirely replaced with an upgraded module of the same size that offers enhanced functionality for recreational users.

The $200,000 project delivered by the Gold Coast Waterways Authority in February 2023 included upgrades to the facility’s specifications that improve its performance and life cycle.

The pontoon is an important piece of infrastructure that can be used as a queuing facility and for berthing (a maximum of 20 minutes) by recreational vessels. It may be used for other recreational activities such as fishing as long as they give way to vessels that wish to berth at the structure.
