Muriel Henchman Park

Officially identified as Yungunn Place, meaning “Dugong,” Muriel Henchman Park and The Spit boat ramps are now open following a $19 million upgrade under the Queensland Government’s Spit Works Program. The project was delivered by Gold Coast Waterways Authority (GCWA) with additional investment from the City of Gold Coast.

The park features:

  • Six state-of-the-art boat ramp lanes
  • A floating walkway and 30-metre pontoon suitable for berthing by marine tourism charters and recreational boaties.
  • 75% increase in car parking capacity with 133 spaces
  • New public amenities, including a shade shelter, pathways, and landscaping.
  • A designated area for local Outrigger Canoe Clubs to meet and store equipment.

BENEFITS OF THE UPGRADE

  • Improved vessel launching areas that provide safe and efficient arrangement for launching and retrieving vessels
  • Increase in the number of boat ramp lanes to cater for more traffic movements, especially during peak periods
  • Additional parking bays for cars and cars with boat trailers (160 trailer parks, 144 car parks, 6 car parks for people with disabilities)
  • New public amenities, shade shelter, pathways, landscaping, and park embellishments
  • Dedicated area for community clubs to meet and safely store their equipment.
