Dredging underway in the Gold Coast Seaway

Dredging works are underway in the Gold Coast Seaway to help maintain safer navigational access through this busy waterway.

Contractor Rohde Nielsen is undertaking the works using the dredge Trud R, which will operate 24 hours a day for at least one week.

Sand naturally accumulates in the Seaway over time, reducing water depth and creating potential hazards for vessels.

Regular dredging helps maintain a navigable channel, supporting recreational boating, commercial operations and the broader marine industry.

Most of the sand removed from the Seaway will be deposited offshore at Main Beach.

Boaties are asked to slow down, remain alert and give the dredge plenty of space while works are underway.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
